The Instructor
R. Michael Marsée has practiced Martial Arts for over fifty years. He is the founder of the Groveport Martial Arts Academy. He is the fourth generation in his family to practice Defense Dans La Rue. He has achieved high-level black belts in three styles of Ju-Jitsu and Korean combat Yudo. He has also achieved a black belt in Judo and was an active competitor in both Judo and Boxing as a young man.
Mr. Marsée is the Founder of San Tora Ryu Ju-Jitsu. San Tora is a modern interpretation of Japanese Ju-Jitsu and combat Yudo. It places a heavy emphasis on the use off striking, throwing and joint breaking for severe combat. San Tora means Three Tigers. San Tora combines effective skills from Budoshin and Danzan Ryu Ju-Jitsu with Combat Yudo. In addition, Mr. Marsee has made a study of Filipino Martial arts for over 32 years. He is the founder of Butuhan Cadena De Mano. BCDM refers to hand-to-hand combat ("Bone Breaking Chain of Hands"). Although joint breaking is certainly taught, it refers more to a level of aggression--such as, "I don't want to fight…but if you leave me no choice, I will break your bones!"
Over the course of his lifetime, Mr. Marsée has taught thousands of students to defend themselves. In addition to civilians, he has taught a wide range of military and law enforcement personnel. Army Rangers, Special Forces, Air Force Combat Security, Police, Highway Patrolmen, SWAT teams, Jail and Penitentiary personnel have all benefited from his teaching. He has also worked in high-risk security and as a personal security agent.
